Spencer Sport’s stunning Mitsubishi Mirage RX Supercar made its international race debut this weekend at Loheac in France and, despite everything being thrown at the team, there was a huge amount of positives to take away from the event. Most impressive was the speed and traction of the Mirage RX off the start line, with driver James Grint rocketing to the front at the first corner on pretty much every standing start he did.
The team was, however, incredibly unlucky during the race weekend, with small ailments like a damaged throttle cable and a fault within the fuel pressure system limiting Free Practice track time on the team’s first visit to Loheac. And then in the Heats, a puncture, a tangle with Euro RX Supercar Championship rivals and a spin put James out of contention before the Finals.
Having only given the Mitsubishi Mirage RX Supercar its MSA British Rallycross Championship debut at Pembrey 10 weeks before, Loheac proved to be an invaluable fact-finding mission for Spencer Sport – as the development of its exciting new RX Supercar continues. It also allowed the team to showcase the Mirage RX’s potential in front of a massive 70,000 strong crowd – with a huge turnout at the drivers’ parade, the sunny qualifying day and an incredibly wet race day!
