Spencer Sports and Social Club was originally formed in 1923 by the local engineering company Spencer, who over the years encouraged the club to thrive by developing a bowling green,tennis courts and a club house. In 1969 GEC plc aquired Spencers and continued to expand the facilities,establishing a new club house. In the autumn of 1987 GEC plc reorganized their structure resulting in the closure of the Melksham factory. The club was then purchased by the members on 28th october 1995, this enabled us to become a Private Members Club. The Club now consists of a lounge bar/social area, function hall, 6 rink bowls green, 2 grass tennis courts, a patio & kiddies play area. The Club has an active committee of 15 members supported by a membership of approx. 1,200 which is still growing and we employ a total of 9 full time and part time staff.
